Do I need a physician’s referral for physical therapy?

Physical therapist’s practice as direct-access providers and therefore a physician’s referral is not required. However, some insurance plans require a physician referral for payment such as Medicare. Contact your insurance company or our office to determine if a referral is required.

Can I choose to go to any physical therapist? 

Yes, as a patient you have the right to receive physical therapy at any physical therapy clinic. Physical Therapy Doctors provides excellence in physical therapy services and takes pride in providing a positive work, and workout environment with knowledgeable and friendly staff.

What insurance plans do you accept?

We accept United Healthcare, Humana, Medicare and Medicare Replacement plans, Tri-Care, Workers Compensation, Liberty Health, and other private plans. Insurance plans vary between carriers. As a courtesy, our staff will verify coverage prior to any treatment, however, we recommend you verify your physical therapy benefits as well.

Are you able to order my imaging (x-ray, ct scan, MRI)?

Yes, Doctors of Physical Therapy in Colorado have been able to order diagnostic imaging such as x-rays, CT scans, and MRIs since 2014. “Physical therapists have been found to be as diagnostically accurate as orthopedic surgeons and more diagnostically accurate than non-orthopedic providers.”https://www.jospt.org/doi/pdf/10.2519/jospt.2011.3556

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes - loose fitting clothes and sneakers - that will allow your therapist to evaluate and examine your problem areas.

Is the gym membership free while attending PT?

Yes, a Berthoud Athletic Club membership is provided free of charge to you while you’re working with one of our physical therapists!

Is cash accepted if I don’t have insurance or you’re if my insurance is out of network?

Yes, we offer a very competitive cash rate, accept payment through health savings plans, and will bill your insurance as an out-of-network provider.

Will you accept payment from my Health Savings Account?

Yes, we are able to accept payments from your Health Savings Account (HSA)!

How long are physical therapy appointments?

Plan on spending up to 30-60 minutes for each treatment session and an additional 10 minutes for a first-time appointment to fill out paperwork.

Will physical therapy hurt? 

Physical Therapy is meant to relieve pain, not cause pain! Physical Therapy Doctors staff is known for their light touch and gentle approach to pain-relieving techniques. Temporary soreness may be experienced after recovering from surgery or when using muscles that are weak and de-conditioned. Our goal is to alleviate your pain and we look forward to doing so!
